Day 21: Ode to Thailand!

Way more culture here than in the Philippines

Crazy Americans

One of our favorite experiences...the Taling Chang water market in Bangkok
I remember when we drove from Switzerland into Italy in 2006, I was so shocked to see how dirty Italy was.  Of course I'd spent 15 months on my mission never thinking that...it was just because the contrast was so immediate and stark.  Well, Thailand is like an immaculate heaven compared to the Philippines.  I'm sure if we'd come to Thailand from the U.S. I wouldn't think so, but once again, it's all relative.  This country is obviously economically better off than the Philippines.  The infrastructure is light years ahead. Manila has a cloud of perpetual smog looming over it; in Bangkok we actually saw the moon on our first night here.  Another thing I'm loving about this country is its strong culture.  The signs are all in Thai, the food is uniquely theirs and delicious, and very few people even speak English.  I LOVE THAILAND!
